Culture Programme

If you are new to St. Gallen, especially if you´ve moved here from a big city, your first impression of St. Gallen might be that it´s a village. Cute, cosy, clean… But it´s not a city.

You´d be surprised though at how many different culture events happen here!

For a start, St. Gallen has an Opera Theatre.  , where you can see opera, musicals, dance performances and classical concerts, as well as theatre plays for children.

If you are a Jazz lover, you will find that St. Gallen has it´s own Jazz organization which offers regular concerts around the city.

There are a few music festivals as well, like Honky Tonk, that takes place in April, and this 2016 it will be on April 30, and Nordklang Festival that takes place in February. St.Gallen OpenAir , that is quite famous in Switzerland, takes place in June.

More music festivals that take place are: SummerDays in Arbon, in August; Rock am See in Konstanz in August; as well as many more that yo can check here.

St. Gallen has a few museums: the Abbey Library (UNESCO heritage) that is a must see, Textile museum, Nature Museum, and there is even a botanic garden.

You could take advantage of the night of the museums to visit all the museums for a “modest” price of 20CHF on September 10th this year.
